Refugee Council
The Refugee Council is a leading charity working with refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK. Founded in 1951, following the creation of the UN Refugee Convention, we exist to support those who come to the UK in need of safety. We provide direct assistance to help people settle and integrate into their new community in addition to our advocacy and policy work. The Building Bridges programme forms part of our integration and specialist employment support service for refugee health professionals.
RAGU, London Metropolitan University
The Refugee Assessment and Guidance Unit, (RAGU), has delivered specialist careers advice and guidance, employability and professional development training for London’s refugee professionals for over 25 years. Based within the University, qualified experienced advisers provide a client-centred service as well as establishing strong partnerships with NHS employers and stakeholders. RAGU has been a partner of Building Bridges since its inception in 2009, supporting refugee health professionals through registration and into NHS work at all levels.
Glowing Results
Glowing Results is a well-established English language institute, specialising in helping clients from overseas to improve their language skills for the purpose of furthering their professional and academic careers. This organisation operates within the Building Bridges Partnership to offer the following courses:
- OET for doctors, nurses and pharmacists at three different levels of preparation
- IELTS for other health professionals, such as dentists, biomedical scientists, dieticians and psychologists
Founded in 2011 by two former London University tutors, Glowing Results engages tutors who are similarly well-qualified and experienced, with a background of teaching adults in universities and businesses overseas. Tutors understand the situations and individual learning needs of Building Bridges clients and encourage, motivate and support them in their journey towards their high level OET and IELTS qualifications.
